Over 800 Optical Professionals Give Laser Eye Surgery The Thumbs Up

A campaign aimed at changing perceptions of laser eye surgery within the optical sector across the UK and Ireland has been overwhelmingly successful – with over 800 optical professionals choosing Optical Express to meet their laser eye surgery needs.

The initiative saw Optical Express launch an open promotion, available to any General Optical Council registered optical professional or student, under which they provided laser eye surgery completely free of charge.

Fashion Designer’s Vision Saved By Laser Eye Surgery

One of the UK most promising creative directors and luxury womenswear designers has praised surgeons who saved her eyesight from the threat of a potentially blinding eye condition.

Aimee McWilliams, who runs her own fashion design studio in Shoreditch, London, wore glasses from the age of 13 then started using contact lenses aged 15.

When she went for a regular check up with her local Optical Express last month she was shocked when her eye examination revealed she had a condition called neovascularization.

Our staff are privileged in that they get the opportunity to see children develop from bright young things into prospering, mature adults, looking after their eye care throughout. Unfortunately, not all children are afforded the same basic privileges as they develop.

In 2011, the STV Appeal brought a shocking statistic to our attention – One in five of Scotland’s children are officially recognised as living in poverty. We firmly believe that this is something that needs to be tackled and is one of the many reasons that we have supported their work over the past two years, through staff fundraising and the donation of our Customer Contact Centre.
