After the initial trauma of the surgery, which was very quick, but terrifying nonetheless, I soon began to enjoy the instant change to my eyesight.
Despite thinking I was pretty well prepared for the surgery and that I would just breathe deeply and keep calm, when suction was applied to my eyeball through a plastic cup, making my eyesight fade to black my heart rate began to race.
This year we’ve gone out of our way to create one of the most exciting Christmases yet! We’ve launched an interactive and exciting festive campaign called “Santa’s lost his specs!” which will run on the Optical Express Facebook and Twitter pages.
We’re asking you and your friends to help Santa! After a busy day on Christmas Eve, he’s only gone and lost his specs. Over the course of the day, he has managed to lose lots of presents without noticing because of his poor eye sight.
It was on a Friday afternoon after a terrible week that I got the call to say I had won laser eye surgery with Optical Express. I was over the moon and pretty shocked as I’m not that lucky usually and had been plucking up the courage for years to go for it!
My consultation in Tunbridge Wells went really well and everyone was so kind and reassuring.
I wondered if, as my treatment was free I would get given the basic treatment, but I was prescribed Lasik with Wavefront for which I’m very grateful and excited! I had been quite nervous but Ugo, the Specialist Refractive Optometrist was brilliant, answering all my questions and I left feeling reassured.
It’s been over five weeks since having laser surgery with Optical Express in Ballsbridge, Dublin and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I now have better than 20:20 vision which I find incredible. I have heard some people say that they still reach for their glasses in the morning, but as a past contact lens wearer I didn’t experience that. But what stands out for me is that I can distinctly see car registrations from further away when I’m driving and I have to constantly remind myself that I am not wearing contact lenses.
I was absolutely amazed when I got the call saying that I had won free surgery. I had been thinking about getting it done for a couple of years, but never actually got around to doing anything about it, so when I saw the chance to enter the competition I absent mindedly entered, thinking I’d never hear any more from it. However a couple of weeks later I’d had a consultation and was on the road to better vision.
