Back in November I let a laser change my life. I had Advanced CustomVue Wavefront at Optical Express to correct my -3.5 and -3.25 eyes. It seems the universal response that anyone has immediately after surgery is “this is life changing, why didn’t I do this sooner?” – but I think it’s important to re-evaluate your opinion on things as time passes. We’ve all fallen in love with a new product only to find that it’s not as great as we thought it would be a few months down the line.
Luckily, that isn’t the case with my surgery.
If you’re planning to have laser eye surgery, I’m sure that just like our team of bloggers, you simply can’t wait to be free from your glasses. You may well have fantasies about hurling them in the bin or stamping on them in celebration of your newly repaired vision, which is a perfectly normal reaction.
However, there is a far better way to celebrate…
If you think that our team’s pile of redundant specs will be jettisoned to land fill – think again!
Just six short weeks ago I changed my life by having laser eye surgery at Optical Express in Milton Keynes. Since then I’ve been on holiday to Florida (and yes, I bought new sunglasses at the airport – the joy of being able to wear sunglasses!) where I had a wonderful day at a water park not worrying about being able to see, or breaking my expensive specs down the water slide, and whizzed about on a speedboat, LOVING the bumps and splashes, not panicking whether or not I’d lose my glasses.
I was admittedly a bag of nerves on the day of the procedure. I arrived for my appointment at 2.45pm and there was some more tests, forms and, questions before the actual procedure took place about two hours later. I was in the surgical chair for less than 5 minutes and the whole procedure was completely painless. The surgeon talked me through the whole thing but all I could actually see was a combination of lights and blur so i felt a bit removed from the situation-allowing me to relax a little!
It’s now two weeks since I had laser eye surgery with Optical Express as part of the Team 21 project and the results are fantastic. My eyesight is now better than 20/20 and certainly as good as or better than it was when I wore glasses. During the first week after the surgery I had to use eye drops (antibiotic and anti-inflammatory) and wear some very attractive protective goggles at night to ensure that my eyes healed from the surgery with no complications but I had no ill effects or discomfort and at my weekly check up I was signed off as having healed perfectly.
