It’s been over five weeks since having laser surgery with Optical Express in Ballsbridge, Dublin and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I now have better than 20:20 vision which I find incredible. I have heard some people say that they still reach for their glasses in the morning, but as a past contact lens wearer I didn’t experience that. But what stands out for me is that I can distinctly see car registrations from further away when I’m driving and I have to constantly remind myself that I am not wearing contact lenses.
From the moment I walked into the Ballsbridge clinic I was made to feel welcome and the friendly staff automatically helped me to relax. The procedure itself was very fast and in no way painful. I guess it was a bit strange when the corneas are being prepared, but only because you have your eyes open and your vision fades. It really is as simple as lying down and staying still for 15 minutes. You can see straight away, but it has that lovely “vasaline on lens” look about it. So you do really need someone to come with you. In the hours immediately after the procedure, all I wanted to do was keep my eyes closed. The streaming of water from your eyes after is very noticeable too but within four hours it had all but vanished. There is absolutely no pain at all at any stage during or after the procedure. It really is more of a discomfort/annoyance which makes you want to rub your eyes, as they feel like they are very tired and I suppose, gritty. The three sets of drops really helped to calm it all down. I found that using the drops in a certain sequence at each insertion meant I didn’t have to try to remember what I did and did not take.
In the days and weeks after the procedure the haziness that I was experiencing during the daytime had resolved within a week. I was experiencing a bit of haze with the lights of oncoming traffic for about two weeks after. I haven’t looked back since.
The sharpness of my vision is most noticeable on a clear sunny day. I never knew that this is what people with perfect vision can see. For as long as I can remember, there’s always been a little blurriness with everything I saw. There are no words for how much I appreciate Optical Express giving me one of the most precious gifts, my sight. I will be forever grateful. You have changed my life immeasurably.
There are two other things that have changed that I almost forgot about. I will have to change my driving licence to reflect my perfect eyesight and my eyes are clearer and have a more twinkly look to them than they’ve ever before.
Thank you again to everyone in Cork, Dublin and the Call Centre of Optical Express.
