Optical Express is delighted to sponsor the ‘Optical Express Racketball Masters Tournament’ on Saturday 23rd February at Whitecraigs Tennis & Sports Club, with competitors from all over Scotland competing in this inaugural tournament.
The Optical Express Masters Tournament is an ‘age graded’ event and players over 35s up to over 60s will be competing in different age groups.
Event organiser, Jason Broadberry said, “We’re delighted that Optical Express has sponsored this event, without support from prominent local business’s tournaments such as these wouldn’t get off the ground and be able to develop. It’s great for the community to have such tournaments and encourage folk to participate”.
David Moulsdale, Chairman and CEO for Optical Express said “As the leading eye care provider in the UK, we serve a diverse range of patients in our stores and clinics every week, many of them active sports athletes…When we were approached about sponsorship for this event we liked the fact that it was different and offered the local community something new.”
Everyone is welcome to come along and spectate between 10am and 4pm and if you’re keen to learn more about racketball and get involved in the sport then there will be plenty of help and information available on the day to get you started.
While racketball has been played in the UK since the 1980s it is still very much considered a new sport. It’s played on a squash court, but with a smaller racket and a bigger, bouncier ball. It’s an easy game to pick up even if you’ve never played a racket sport and gives you a great workout.
