We can look after your family’s eyesight all of their lives. From babies to older relations the optometrists at Optical Express is experienced at caring for everyone. Our eye tests are free in Ireland.
The whole family can rely on us to look after one of your most precious senses – your sight.
We recommend that if your baby shows no eyesight issues then their first appointment at Optical Express should be when they are three years old. It’s never too early to look after your child’s eyes, as with adults the earlier we detect a problem the better.
If a parent thinks that their child has poor eyesight, they should consult their health visitor or doctor. They can decide if further examinations are needed.
All babies, without eye issues, can see. For short periods of time new born babies can focus. A fortnight later, baby will be able to follow movements and recognise faces. From around one month old a baby should be able to focus and follow a toy. At around three months the sight of their own hands becomes interesting and exciting.
Every child should attend an eye test before they start Primary School. Imagine how difficult it would be to concentrate during class or join in playground games if you can’t see properly. After the initial test Optical Express recommends annual check-ups for children.
A child’s visual development is largely complete by the age of eight, therefore the earlier in life any problems are detected the greater the chance of resolving them.
