What are Intraocular Lenses?

While laser eye surgery may be the most common route to freedom from contact lenses and glasses it is not always suitable for everyone. Intraocular Lenses are an ever increasingly popular substitute treatment.

Implantable Contact Lens (ICL)

The Implantable Contact Lens treatment involves placing a small lens into the eye with the visual result being similar to that of the traditional use of the contact lens. The major difference being the freedom from removing and replacing the lens on a daily, weekly or even fortnightly basis as the lens will remain there until the patient decides to remove it surgically. They cannot be seen or felt and with a short recovery period ICL treatment is a great option for many people.

Phakic Intraocular Lens (Phakic IOL)

Phakic IOL treatment was specially developed for those with high myopia, hyperopia or even patients with thin corneas. The actual procedure and reversible option make Phakic IOL similar to implantable contact lens and the benefits are experienced instantly.

Cataract Surgery

In Cataract surgery your eye lens will be replaced with a man-made lens, allowing you to see clearly.

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)

Refractive Lens Exchange surgery is similar to cataract surgery. In a refractive lens exchange procedure the same lens is removed and replace with a new lens that has your glasses or contact lens prescription in it.
