Wet AMD is medically known as exudative macular degeneration. Unlike Dry AMD which is much more common Wet AMD accounts for around 15% of all report cases of age related macular degeneration. Wet AMD is the result of abnormal blood vessels developing in the retina of your eye. Fluid leaks from these abnormal blood vessels and cause your vision to become distrorted. It is common for patients who have had Dry AMD to develop Wet AMD over time if it is left untreated. Although Wet AMD is less common it is extremely aggressive and cause rapid and sustained loss of vision.
The most common symptoms of Wet AMD is the sudden loss of vision, straight lines or angles suddenly becoming distored. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms or have been diagnosed with Dry AMD and have not had it treated you may be developing Wet AMD:
