Laser eye surgery is primarily a treatment for distance vision and some people choose to have only their distance vision corrected and simply continue wearing reading glasses to correct their near vision.
Laser eye surgery permanently removes your distance prescription to leave you normally sighted for your age. As we get older our near sight naturally deteriorates and reading glasses may be required. This natural progression of our sight is unaffected by laser eye surgery.
The alternative option to a distance only treatment is what is called monovision. One eye is corrected for near and the other for distance vision.
We can also provide an alternative intraocular lens (IOL) treatment. IOL treatment can not only eliminate the need for glasses for your distance vision, but with certain lens types your reading vision may also be improved.Back
