There is no medical reason why you would not be able to travel after one week of having laser eye surgery, including long haul flights, although we would advise you take eye drops as the air cabin pressure may cause your eyes to become dry. We do advise though that you should not swim for two weeks following an eye procedure.
While the visual results of laser eye surgery are noticeable within hours, it may take a few months for the sensitivity of your eyes to completely settle. If you are travelling to a hot climate with intense heat, humidity and sunlight soon after laser eye surgery, you may find your eyes to be extra sensitive to these conditions, therefore it may be advisable to wait until your return.
Your optometrist will advise of any specific leisure activities that should be avoided during the initial recovery period.Back
