Why is there a limit to the length of time I can wear my lenses?

The ideal length of wearing time for contact lenses is the length of time that proves to be trouble-free. For most people this is around 10-12 hours each day but it depends on many factors including health, living environment, ocular lubrication, lens material and lens hygiene.

If you work in a dry environment you may find the lenses dry quickly and adding artificial tears or a different lens material can be helpful. If you have a condition, such as rheumatoid arthritis, you may feel your eyes do not produce enough moisture to keep the lens comfortable.
