About Stephen Hannan

Mr Hannan graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Optometry BSc (Hons) degress from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001. He then qualified completion of the College of Optometrists Professional Qualifying Examinations.

Mr Hannan joined Optical Express in 2002 as an Optometrist. He was then promoted to the position of Regional Senior Optometrist in 2003, progressing to Clinical Services Manager the following year. He was promoted to his current role as Clinical Services Director for the Optical Express Group in 2010, and is responsible for overseeing the clinical performance of in excess of 200 Optometrists who undertake in excess of 400,000 different types of clinical examinations on patients every year. He also still examines patients on a regular basis in his capacity as in Independent Prescribing (IP) Optometrist.

He has personally undertaken in excess of 17,000 eye examinations and pre-operative refractive surgery consultations. Furthermore, he has performed in excess of 10,000 post-operative refractive surgery consultations.

His passion and expertise in the area of refractive surgery is no more evident than in his publications that he has authored throughout his career. He has had 17 published in leading scientific journals and several articles published in a number of refractive surgery related trade journals.
