Race Against Dementia

Today, 50 million people around the world have dementia. A new person develops dementia every three seconds. Unless a cure is found, one in three people born today will get dementia in their lifetime.

Founded by Formula 1 racing legend Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, Race Against Dementia is driven to raise money to fund breakthrough and innovative dementia research. Sir Jackie is being backed by a host of racing talent in his mission, including ex Formula 1 star David Coulthard MBE, IndyCar Legend Dario Franchitti MBE and F1 world champion, Damon Hill OBE. Current racing stars including Alexander Albon, Lando Norris and George Russell have also lent their support to the cause.

Optical Express is proud to support the charity's crucial work by sponsoring a series of 2-hour Endurance Races held over the summer at Larkhall Circuit. Costing £400+VAT for a team of 4, you can enter a maximum of up to 20 teams to race on the day. 100% of all proceeds go to Race Against Dementia's pioneering Fellowship programme.

The programme actively seeks out early career scientists with innovative research proposals, supporting efforts to tackle new approaches to better understanding, treatment, and prevention of the diseases underlying dementia.

Optical Express will continue to support Race Against Dementia as part of our long term commitment to give back to the communities that we serve.
