Optical Express surgeons sign pledge to uphold high standards

Leading clinicians, including Ophthalmic Surgeons and International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) members at Optical Express, Europe’s leading private provider of laser eye surgery, premium intraocular lens surgery and cataract surgery, have signed a pledge to uphold high standards in eye care delivery.

The pledge was signed by all 26 attendees at the recent Optical Express annual surgeon meeting. During the event the group were treated to a series of presentations focused on Optical Express’ sustainability agenda, patient data relating to their exceptional clinical outcomes and high satisfaction levels.

The pledge calls on eye care professionals to ensure patients make informed choices, are aware of both the benefits and potential risks of eye care procedures and are fully consented to their vision correction solution of choice. The pledge also encourages clinicians to make patients especially aware of the environmental impact of vision correction options. Optical Express are leading the decarbonisation of the ophthalmic industry, with the goal of becoming the most environmentally friendly provider in the industry.

Stephen Hannan, Clinical Services Director at Optical Express, said: “We are delighted to have signed our clinicians pledge.  It spells out the standards we hold ourselves to at Optical Express. We believe principles of informed choice, consent and awareness form the basis on which we care for patients and everyone in our clinical teams is fully committed to living up to our pledge.”
