How long does laser eye surgery take?

Laser eye surgery is an extremely quick procedure, lasting anything from a few seconds to a couple of minutes! It really is that quick.

You’ll be in the theatre for around ten minutes; this includes getting ready for surgery and resting for a few minutes afterwards. The length of time that the laser is applied to your eye ranges from just a few seconds to two minutes, depending upon the complexity of your prescription.

Most patients notice a significant improvement to their vision within 24 hours of surgery. You'll see a vast improvement by the end of your recovery period, which depends upon a number of factors including the type of treatment you've undergone, your age and your normal ability to heal.

We recommend you bring someone with you to your procedure and to your follow up appointment that will take place within 24 hours and one week, as your vision may be blurred.
