After discovering that he had “little to no sight” in his right eye, Howard visited his local Optical Express where he was informed by one of our specialist optometrists that he was suffering from a dense cataract.
Although the news came as a “bit of a shock”, Howard was thankful that the team at Optical Express were able to identify the issue commenting, “The team were very, very good at putting me at ease”, providing him with a full explanation of his diagnosis and the treatment options available.
On the day of his cataract surgery, Howard was impressed by the level of service he received from the team at our state of the art treatment clinic in Dublin, commenting, “There were people constantly speaking to you and reassuring you. I have never been so well looked after in my life”. Immediately after his procedure Howard was aware that “things had improved considerably” as he was able to see the pattern on the ceiling in the surgery suite - something he was unable to do before.
Describing how felt about his restored vision, Howard claims “There was a general feeling of relief. Any concern I had about driving was taken away”. With his newfound visual freedom, Howard is now able to complete normal day to day activities, like reading the newspaper or wiring a plug with a lot less stress. He can now get back to enjoying his favourite hobby of building model trains, working with all the intricate pieces, without any “added frustration”.
Cataract surgery has been life-changing for Howard, who says “I have absolutely no doubt in saying that it has made a tremendous difference”. Having his sight back, has improved all aspects of his life and he has “no regrets, whatsoever” about having the procedure. “My whole treatment came from Optical Express and I would have nothing but the highest praise for them”.
