Rugby League player James Bentley recently underwent laser eye surgery at our Leeds clinic.
James has played rugby since he was seven years old but began needing glasses at sixteen. The adjustment to needing glasses was difficult – he recalls struggling with contacts during matches.
He said,
“There’s been times in games where I’ve been running off basically one eye, or there’s been times where they’ve both gone blurry – like a bit of sweat in my eye.”
The stoppage time during matches spent dealing with contact lenses often caused a loss of focus and disrupted his performance. When James decided to have a consultation for laser eye surgery, he knew Optical Express was where he wanted to go.
James was delighted with the service he received from start to finish, noting that he didn’t feel nervous thanks to the preparation provided by the staff. From Patient Advisors to his optometrist and surgeon, everything was explained to him in advance, and he felt excited going into surgery.
Thrilled with his results, James says he believes the surgery will improve his performance on the field. He said,
“I’ll be in there, full swing – I can’t wait! It’s a really exciting time and a chapter in my life I’ll definitely remember.”
Many athletes opt for laser eye surgery to enhance their performance. You can read more about this over on our blog here.
